With the increasing expense and inconvenience of travel and the need for instantaneous collaboration across wide-geographic areas, corporations are beginning to turn to training in Virtual Worlds. Virtual world training has an advantage over Webinar in that it's always on. Staff members can make arrangements to meet at any time to exchange information in a simulated face-to-face environment. Often these programs incorporate VOIP for real time audio.

Traditionally , as with Second Life,  this has required special browsers and powerful graphic cards on the company's platform, but groups like Altadyn are beginning to develop applications that can be launched from standard browsers. 3DXplorer below is an example. Another option is to load the world onto your server, behind your firewall. This is the approach taken by Proton Media. They have an "off-the-shelf" approach called, "ProtoSphere", but can also do custom design. ProtonMedia
